Throughout my life the desire to express myself artistically has been unrelenting. My serious pursuit of art began at Augusta College in the early ‘70’s with Nathan Bindler, Freeman Schoolcraft and Richard Frank. Out of a sense of practicality, however, I turned my academic energies towards a degree in nursing, resulting in a rewarding career that I enjoyed for many years. But, the passion for the arts never abated.

Over the years it seems that art has continued to pursue me…..it is something I feel I have to do! I see creativity as a God-given gift which we have a responsibility to cultivate. Despite my family and professional commitments I have continued my art education through workshops, mentorships, travel and determination.

I began my artistic journey working primarily in watercolor. These days, however, I’ve found great pleasure working on canvas in oil and acrylic in a representational - impressionistic style. I’ve also experimented in recent years with pastels, and mixed media collage.

Being a native Georgian, I enjoy rendering the landscape and waterways of our region which have literally been fixtures in my life. I also have an interest in the landscape, beauty and music of Ireland and have had the privilege of traveling there numerous times in recent years.

In addition to visual art, Celtic music (particularly Irish traditional music) is another passion of mine. I enjoy playing the fiddle and have studied with some of today’s finest traditional Irish fiddlers: Liz Knowles, Randal Bays, Patrick Ourceau and James Kelly (to name a few) The collage work I’ve begun producing is a creative expression of my two passions.

My husband Bill and I currently reside on a farm in rural Columbia County with our grand-dog “Bud”….two cats, “Planxty” & “Strange”….and six nameless chickens!
